Thanks
to this program benefits patients throughout Bolivia who suffer from heart
failure, mainly due to a disease called Chagas which is produced by the
vinchuca and which causes a high percentage of deaths in our country.
This
program operated thanks to donations received from the Catholic Medical
Mission of Chicago (United States).
This
program has been operating since 1998 thanks to donations from Belgiam
(Europe) who annually donate Neotigazol, an indispensable medication used
to treat this skin disease.
We
help children who have this disease and who are rejected due to the aspect
of their skin and hope to help them avoid this rejection and future psychological
problems.
This
consists of the donation of hydrocephalic valves to children of scant
resources who have hydrocephalus (water on the brain). This program is
being developed nationally because it is the only one in Bolivia. It is
only possible due to the generous collaboration of the ADASEC Association
(Spain), the Government of Spain, and the Junta de Extremadura, that annually
benefits 70 indigent children, thus avoiding the high risk of infant mortality.
